Bangladesh-India ties genuine, incomparable: Hasan
Terming while genuine and incomparable the relations between Bangladesh and India,Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has got said this relationship can't be compared with any different ties, reports BSS.
The information minister made the comment while briefing the newsmen at his office at Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Earlier, outgoing Indian Huge Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das paid her farewell ask him at his ministry’s office.
Information Secretary Kamrun Nahar was present at the appointment.
Hasan said it was her (Riva Ganguly) farewell meeting and she'll Delhi by getting promotion as a secretary-level official. “I'd like to increase my congratulation to her for the promotion,” he added.
Terming ex - Indian President Pranab Mukherjee while a true good friend of Bangladesh, the information minister expressed his profound shock and sorrow in his death. Bangladesh is normally observing one-day time national mourning along with India at the death of Pranab Mukherjee, he added.
He said a number of important functions were done during the stay of Indian Large Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das found in Dhaka. Specially, the transmission of Bangladesh Television (BTV) programmes were only available in India from this past year through state-of-the-art tv Doordarshan’s DTH platform-DD Free Dish, said Hasan, as well Awami League joint general secretary.
Bangladesh Betar has also started broadcasting programmes on India, he said, adding all of these are big works.
He said building of a biopic on Bangabandhu is going on under joint production of the governments of Bangladesh and India. The works will begin soon though the works were halted because of COVID-19 condition. Besides, a documentary may also be made beneath the joint development of both countries quickly, he added.
Riva Ganguly said, "You all understand that ex - Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is forget about. For this, India is usually observing talk about mourning. Bangladesh can be observing one-day time mourning and Bangladesh President and Primary Minister have sent condolence messages. He was a big friend of Bangladesh."
She said, "I as well worked in Bangladesh between 1998 and 2000. And that point, Pranab Mukherjee found Bangladesh. I visited Gandhi Ashram in Noakhali with him. I've a good memory with him."
She said next time may be the 50th anniversary of the Liberation War of Bangladesh, and the diplomatic relations between your two countries will also touch 50-time mark although relation is quite old. "There are various sectors in both countries where we can do the job jointly," Riva added.
After the meeting, the information minister handed over three books on Bangabandhu’s life and a imitation of 'Boat', the electoral symbol of Awami League, to the outgoing Indian high commissioner.
Riva Ganguly also handed over a good memento to the info minister.
