Bangladesh Missions abroad pay homage to Bangabandhu
Bangladesh Missions abroad observed the National Mourning Day in a befitting manner on Saturday.
Your day marks the 45h anniversary of the assassination of Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with 18 other members of his family on August 15, 1975.
Hoisting of national flag at half mast, putting floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, reading out messages from President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Ak Abdul Momen and state Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and discussion meetings marked the other events of your day.
One minute of silence was observed and a doa was offered in memory of the martyrs of the 15th August, according to messages received from Bangladesh Missions abroad including from India, Singapore, the Netherlands, Japan, Turkey, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, China, France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At a discussion meeting on this occasion Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran paid homage to Bangabandhu, the best Bengali ever.
He said, “While we mourn the death of Bangabandhu, we also pledge in this Mujib Borsho to carefully turn the grief of his loss into strength and engage ourselves in creating a hunger and poverty free prosperous Bangladesh.”
He said the unfinished task of creating Sonar Bangla, the dream of Bangabandhu, is being achieved by his able daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The united states, he said, is now on the pathway of prosperity and Bangladesh is currently a role style of development.
The meeting held at Bangabandhu Maitree Hall of the mission was also participated by senior journalist Gautam Lahiri, former president of Press Club of India and Dipanjan Roy Chowdhury, a senior correspondent of the Economic Times.
Lahiri said the killers could kill Bangabandhu, however they failed to get rid of his ideology, Mujibism, which targets nationalism and secularism, development and global peace.
Dipanjan highlighted the growing monetary relations between India and Bangladesh and the growth of connectivity.
The function witnessed the unveiling of a particular publication, Immortal Bangabandhu, by the high commissioner, joined by other officers and two guest speakers.
A documentary on the life span of Bangabandhu was also screened.
Deputy High Commissioner at the mission A.T.M Rokebul Haque conveyed vote of thanks.
The High Commission of Bangladesh in Singapore observed the 45th death anniversary of the Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day with due solemnity.
Members of the expatriate Bangladeshi community in Singapore and officials of the High Commission participated in the programes.
A documentary video on the life span and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was screened.
Later, the High Commission officials and expatriate Bangladeshis took part in a discussion on the life and philosophy of the daddy of the Nation.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore, Md. Mustafizur Rahman paid rich tribute to the contribution of Bangabandhu to the independence of Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner said that the killers wished to erase the spirit of liberation war but finally did not succeed.
He added that the values, ideas, and visions of Bangabandhu will continue steadily to inspire Bangalees forever. He mentioned that Bangladesh, beneath the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has made significant progress in fulfilling the vision of Bangabandhu to make it a calm and prosperous country.
Taking lessons from Bangabandhu’s dedicated life, the High Commissioner urged the Bangladeshi expatriates to become listed on and donate to the ongoing national efforts in realizing “Shonar Bangla”-the imagine the Father of Nation.
