8 killed as bus, microbus collide in Chittagong
At least eight people have been killed and many others injured after a passenger bus and a microbus collided head-on at Lohagara upazila in Chittagong.
According to Lohaagara police and highway police, the tragic incident took place on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in the upazila’s Chunati area around 12:30am on Thursday.
Alamgir Hossain, in-charge of Chunati police outpost, said eight people were killed on the spot after a Cox's Bazar-bound Relax Paribahan bus collided with the Chittagong-bound microbus.
The deceased include five men, two women and a child, he said, and added that all of them were passengers of the microbus.
He also said the death toll may rise.
He said police and Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel had rushed to the spot after being informed and recovered the bodies.
Several injured were also rescued and sent to different hospitals.
