5th edition of DIFF to be held in Nov
The fifth edition of Dhaka International Folk Festival will start from November 14. Preparations for the three day-long festival of South Asian folk music is underway.

Managing Director of Square Toiletries Ltd, Anjan Chowdhury, confirmed the news at a press meet for Magic Bauliana, a talent contest for folk singers. It is an attempt to revive the rich folk music of Bangladesh and introduce this genre to a younger population.  

Last year, the festival hosted 124 performers from seven countries. Performers of the 2018 edition included Momtaz Begum, Baul Abdul Hai Dewan, Baul Kabir Shah, Arnob, Nakshikatha, Swarobanjo and Bhabna Nritya Dol from Bangladesh. 

International performers included Grammy award winner Los Texmaniacs from the USA, Dikanda from Poland and Las Migas from Spain, Wadali Brothers, The Raghu Dixit Project, and Satyaki Banerjee from India, Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, and Majaz from Bahrain. The folk festival has been taking place annually since 2015.
