Bangladeshi docu-film in two int'l festivals
'Gotipot' (Moving Canvas), a Bangladeshi documentary film featuring the lost tradition and culture of Bangladesh is being featured in two international film festivals.  Jointly produced by Stanford University and Drisshokar Films, the film is written, scripted and directed by Mridul Mamun.

The film had its US premiere yesterday at the '8th Treasure Coast International Film Festival 2018' at Touchstar Cinemas (Sabal Palms Luxury 6), Florida. Began on August 16, the festival will run till August 19. 'Gotipot' will be competing with 65 films from around the world in two categories.

The film is the only Bangladeshi entry to be competing.  On the other hand, 'Gotipot' will be competing in the International Documentary Film category at the 1st Nagaon International Short and Documentary Film Festival 2018. The festival will be held in Assam, India from September 8-9.

In the age of globalization, it is difficult to retain any nation's individuality. Just as Bengali culture is losing its traditions and culture. Thus the initiative of bringing the current or lost Bangladeshi tradition & culture through the canvas of t-shirts is old, but its popularity began after 2000.

In preserving local culture, many has described that this initiative and popularity as a silent revolution. Hence, in the canvas of foreign t-shirt motifs, Bengali motif has made its place. This documentary is made by the story behind this noble initiative and its concerns.

About his documentary film being in international film festival, Mridul Mamun said, "This is like receiving an award for me that my film is going to compete in an international film festival of US. I am honored and glad that my film is representing my country in international film arena."

Mridul Mamun is a freelance documentary filmmaker and film activist. His other works 'Kobutorbaz-Pigeon Player' and 'Sobai Ekjat-All are Same Race' received a few awards and honours from various film festivals.
