4 Rohingya women rescued, 2 human traffickers held
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two members of a human trafficking syndicate and rescued four Rohingya women from city’s Khilgaon area on Tuesday night.
The arrested are Abdul Hamid, 30, a resident of Cox’s Bazar; and Riyad Hossain, 34, of Dhaka.
Lieutenant colonel Emranul Islam, commander of RAB-3, confirmed the matter while addressing media at RAB media center in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a drive in the area around 9.00pm and arrested the two human traffickers, said RAB.
Four Rohingya women-- Hasina Begum, Ruma Akther, Bushra Akther, Sabekun Nahar— were rescued and passports, fake birth certificates and a computer were seized from their possession during the drive.
