Bangladeshi documentary 'Belonging' selected at the forum
'Belonging' is the first documentary that has been selected at the forum from Bangladesh. Directed by Abid Hossian Khan, has been awarded the Bangladesh Government Film Fund for documentary in 2018-19 session. The 17th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has selected 23 projects for presenting at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18 to 20 March 2019, said a press release.

Abid Hossain Khan examines the tragedy of the Muslim-majority Rohingya people in 'Belonging', his debut documentary that follows 6-year-old Nushaida as she starts a journey to find her parents at refugee camps in Bangladesh after becoming separated from them while fleeing Myanmar.

'Belonging' is a Khona Talkies production being produced by Rubaiyat Hossain and Aadnan Imtiaz Ahmed. The director, along with the producers, will attend the forum in March. Previously, the fiction project 'Made in Bangladesh' by Rubaiyat Hossain participated in the same platform in 2017.

HAF is one of the most prominent film-financing platforms in Asia. It provides an organized structure for filmmakers to meet financiers, producers, bankers, distributors and buyers for potential co-production ventures. The projects, making this year's shortlist, selected from more than 350 submissions, hail from 10 countries and territories across the region, including Bangladesh.
