Rohingya repatriation should be voluntary, dignified: US
US Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (Africa and Asia) Richard Albrighton Sunday said the repatriation of Rohingyas should be safe, dignified and voluntary.
While talking to reporters after visiting Ghumdhum transit camp by the Rohingya camp in Kutupalong, he also said a congenial atmosphere should be created in Rakhine of Myanmar for the Rohingya repatriation.
International human rights organisations and different donor organisations must get unrestricted entry to Rakhine, he said.
Meanwhile, DerrickSBrown, US Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director in Bangladesh who was also present there, said USAID has been working to improve the living standard of both Bangladeshi people and Rohingyas.
The US team also visited Konarpara Rohingya camp at Naikkhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
