20 thousand women campaign in RCC election
About 20 thousand women are participating in the campaigns of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) elections.

They earn extra money by working four hours in the morning and afternoon a day. With time running out, the candidates extended their campaign with the help of the women.

In RCC elections, 217 candidates are contesting. Of them, 5 are Mayor candidates, 160 for general councilor posts and 52 for reserved women councilors. 

The candidates have been working full-time in their field. The candidates have unleashed 100 to 150 women workers in the field to campaign for respective symbols. Women workers are distributing election leaflets with photographs of candidates to the voters visiting the house.

Woman workers talk about the promise of candidates to the female voters as well as male voters in different areas of the city. 

Women from different social classes have been campaigning in this election. Many women from wealthy families are also working. The rich and the middle-class women want vote for their relatives without wage.

And the women of other classes took part in the campaign for the candidate's in exchange for Tk 200-250 per day. Presence of poor women in the public meetings is noticeable.

Mehrun Nesa, a resident of the city's Sapura area, 43, has been campaigning since Wednesday. Every day he gets Tk 250 for this. She said she earned Tk 500 in the last two days. “It's been a good day with me. It is possible to fulfill some demands of her family.

Jamiran Bibi of Darikharbona area of the city said has also been in the campaign. Jamiran said that among them is a leader. She makes the list and distributes money. She has to run 4 to 5 hours on the campaign in the colony every day. 

On the first, day she earned Tk 200. Another candidate offered her to pay Tk 50 more, so she has been campaigning for another candidate from next day.
