19th DIFF to feature films in global leaders
The upcoming 19th Dhaka International Film Festival will feature films on global leaders under a fresh segment titled 'Legendary Leaders Who Changed the Environment', said a news release. This new segment features been included marking the birth centenary of the country's founding President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
'We possess included the segment "Legendary Leaders Who Modified the Community" to shell out tribute to Bangabadhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along his birth centenary. The segment will characteristic documentaries, fictions and movies depicting lives and functions of global leaders who have fought because of their country, democracy and liberty of their persons. We are looking towards screening around 10 movies beneath the segment,' Ahmed Muztaba Zamal, director of DIFF,explained.
The film event will be held from January 16 to 24 and films will be screened at several venues including Bangladesh National Museum, Sufia Kamal National Public Library, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Alliance Franchise de Dhaka and Celebrity Cineplex. Besides, the function will also host over the internet film screenings.
The function will feature 200 films from 65 countries around the world under different segments specifically 'Asian Cinema Competition Section', 'Legendary Leaders Who Changed the World', 'Tribute', 'Retrospective', 'Bangladesh Panorama Section', 'Cinema of the World Section', 'Children Films Section', 'Women Filmmakers Section', 'Short and Independent Movies Section' and 'Spiritual Movies Section'.Besides, the function will characteristic Seventh Dhaka International Meeting on Women in Cinema 2021, which is held from January 17 to January 18. Girls filmmakers, actors and personalities from worldwide are scheduled to take part in the event.
Rainbow Film Society features been attempting to promote a wholesome cine culture in Bangladesh since 1977. It has been organizing DIFF since 1992 with the motif 'Better Film, Better Market and Better Society'.'We are likely to organize the forthcoming festival amid the COVID-19 crisis.
