Zilqad month begins Sunday
The holy Zilqad month of 1442 hijri year will begin from Sunday (June 13) as no moon was seen on the sky and that’s why the Shawal month will be thirty days.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation, Baitul Mukarram conference room here tonite.
Additional Secretary of the Religious Affairs Ministry M Altaf Hossen Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
Islamic Foundation Director General Dr M Mushfiqur Rahman, Bangladesh Waqfah administrator Abdullah Sajjad, Joint Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry M Nazrul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet Division M Saiful Islam, Additional Principal Information Officer M Shahenur Mia, SPARRSO’s PSO Abu Mohammad, Dhaka District Administration’s Assistant Commissioner M Saiful Islam, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department Muhammad Asadur Rahman, Madrasha -E-Alia Principal M Alamgir Rahman, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Imam Muhiuddin Kashem, Lalbagh Shahi Jame Mosque Khatib Mufti Muhammad Neamtullah and Chalkbazar Shahi Jame Mosque Khatib Mufti Sheikh Nayeem Rezwan, amongst others, attended the meeting.
