YouTube ‘paedophilia ring’ scandal: More than 400 channels banned
In light of the paedophilia ring concerns by users, YouTube has reportedly banned hundreds of channels and disabled comments for content that promoted child exploitation.

After top brands such as Nestle, Disney, Epic, and McDonald’s put a halt on their advertisements on the platform, YouTube announced the ban on more than 400 channels over concerns of child abuse through the platform.

Last week, Redditor Matt Watson highlighted how YouTube’s algorithm permitted abusive comments which time-stamped video portions in which children were shown in compromising positions.

It also led to recommendations which were pornographic in nature, accusing YouTube of not curbing the ‘soft paedophilia ring’, which were also monetized through ads, where perverts are able to contact each other by abusing the comments section.

As part of the initial steps, YouTube took action against the offending channels in the last 48 hours. It has also reported illegal comments to law enforcement.
