Women's hockey team achieve maiden win
The Bangladesh women’s hockey team tasted their first victory in just their second ever match today, beating Sri Lanka 2-0 in their AirAsia Women’s Junior (U-21) AHF Cup in Singapore.

After a goalless first quarter, Tarin Akter Khushi delivered Bangladesh’s first international goal in the 27th minute from a penalty corner.

According to a Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) press release, more than 100 expatriate Bangladeshis turned up to support the team at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium and their joy was doubled in the fourth quarter when Fardia Akter Ratri converted another penalty corner in the 58th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

Bangladesh had lost their first game on Monday by a 3-0 margin against hosts Singapore. They will next take on Hong Kong on September 12, with their last two matches against Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei to take place on September 14 and 15 respectively.
