Woman killed as tree falls on her in front of Shishu Academy
A woman was killed and seven other pedestrians were injured as a coconut tree fell on them in front of Shishu Academy in Dhaka's Shahbag area on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Mitu Ghosh, 25, betrothed to Dhononjoy Ghosh.
Eyewitness said a tree suddenly fell on a rickshaw carrying the betrothed couple around 9:30pm, leaving Mitu dead on the spot and injured him.
The injured including Dhononjoy, Khorshed Alam, 55, his wife Selina Begum, 35, daughter Seherin Alam, 18, Sanjir Alam, 10, Ranjan Ghosh, 30, Shopna, 32, and rickshaw-puller Mohsin, 28, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Inspector Bachhu Mia of DMCH police outpost, reports UNB.
Later, one of the injured Shopna was taken to Square Hospitals following deterioration of her condition, he added.
