Why JU VC's appointment for 2nd term not illegal, asks HC
The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking as to why the appointment of Jahangirnagar University Dr Farzana Islam for second term should not be declared illegal.
Justice Syed Refat Ahmed and Justice M Selim passed the order after hearing a writ on the issue.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division secretary and deputy secretary, the JU Vice Chancellor and the Pro-VC have been made respondents to the rule and asked to reply the rule within a week.
On February 15, President Abdul Hamid reappointed Professor Farzana Islam as VC of Jahanginagar University for the next four years.
Later, former JU VC Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir and Dr Lutfor Rahman of Drama and Dramatics Dept filed a writ with the HC challenging the reappointment.
