Water transport personnel to stage demo before BIWTA Sunday
Water transport staff have announced a sit-in programme before the BIWTA workplace from Sunday (May 23) morning if launch offerings on all routes usually do not resume by then.
In a news release, the Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation (Bangladesh Water Transport Workers’ Federation) said the personnel were hugely damaged by the lockdown because the government did not take any alternative measures because of their livelihoods.
People are spending 2-3 times more on visiting back to their workplaces after Eid holiday seasons, ignoring health rules during the coronavirus pandemic.
The organisation has demanded immediate resumption of start services in compliance with health guidelines and payment of all arrears by May 22.
Launch services own remained suspended from April 5 when the federal government enforced a good nationwide lockdown to curb the transmitting of coronavirus.
