US-Bangla launches flights to Chennai
 US-Bangla Airlines, a leading private sector carrier of the country, has launched regular flights to Chennai today, March 31, becoming the first Bangladeshi airline to operate to the South Indian city.

The inaugural flight departed Dhaka at 9:10 am with 94 passengers on board. Another 62 passengers boarded from Chattogram and left Shah Amanat International Airport for Chennai at 10:45 am.

Dhaka-Chennai flight was formally inaugurated by Group Captain Abdullah Al Farooq, Director, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. Imran Asif, Chief Executive Officer and other senior officials of US-Bangla Airlines were present on the occasion.

The return flight left Chennai with 163 passengers – 66 for Chattogram and 97 for Dhaka. Ram Gopal, General Manager Operations, Airport Authority of India, cut a cake to inaugurate the flight on Chennai-Chattogram-Dhaka route on the same day.

Initially, three weekly flights to be operated on the Dhaka-Chattogram-Chennai route on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight will depart Dhaka at 9:10 am and Chattogram at 10:45 am to reach Chennai at 12:45 pm. The return flights will depart from Chennai on the same days at 1:30 pm to reach Chattogram at 4:30 pm and Dhaka at 6 pm.

Flights to and from Chennai will be operated by Boeing 737-800 having 8 seats in the business class and 156 in the economy class.

All inclusive oneway fare on Dhaka-Chennai route starts from BDT15,043 while the return fare starts from BDT22,052. On the other hand, oneway fare on Chattogram-Chennai route starts from BDT16,045 and return fare starts from BDT24,056.

US-Bangla Airlines has also announced special tour and medical packages for Chennai from Bangladesh.
