'Iti, Tomari Dhaka' to compete in Chennai
After winning award in the category of best original screenplay at the 11th edition of Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF), 'Iti, Tomari Dhaka' (Sincerely, Yours Dhaka) is going to compete in Chennai.
The first anthology film of Bangladesh, produced by Impress Telefilm, will take part in the main competition at the Independent Film Festival of Chennai (IFFC) which will begin on February 8 and will continue till February 10. The film will compete with 30 films around the world.
'Iti, Tomari Dhaka', which had its world premiere at 23rd Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea in October, 2018, is a collection of 11 short films themed on Dhaka made by 11 directors. The film features diverse aspects of the megacity Dhaka including its heritage and traditions, people and professions, dreams and nightmares directed by Nuhash Humayun, Tanvir Ahsan, Rahat Rahman, Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, Mahmudul Islam, Golam Kibria Farooki, Mir Mokarram Hossain, Rabiul Alam, Saleh Ahmed, Ahmed Shawki and Tanim Noor.
In this omnibus, all these filmmakers create a love letter to the city of Dhaka. From young girls looking for a drink in a dry town to a bank scammer's attempted murder to a plumber creating a refugee crisis, the city co-stars every time.
As the first film anthology of Bangladesh, it has a large cast of more than 30 actors including Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Orchita Sporshia, Allen Shuvro, Shamol Mawla, Shahtaj Monira Hashem, Manoj Kumar Pramanik, Tropa Majumdar, Intekhab Dinar, Iresh Zaker and Mostafa Monwar.
