UN recognizes enormous expenditure found in Bhasan Char: Mia Seppo
UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Mia Seppo on Saturday said the UN and its own all the companies recognise the enormous expense that the federal government of Bangladesh has manufactured in building Bhasan Char for Rohingya relocation, reports UNB.

"We recognise the tremendous investment...that's obviously a sign of the seek out solutions in managing the problem," she told reporters after attending a program marking the International Volunteer Day.

The government invested a lot more than US$350.00 million to build up the 13,000-acre island with all modern features, year-round fresh water, beautiful lake and correct infrastructure and increased facilities, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

These include uninterrupted way to obtain electricity and normal water, agricultural plots, cyclone shelters, two hospitals, four network treatment centers, mosques, warehouses, telecommunication offerings, law enforcement station, recreation and learning centers, playgrounds, etc.

The UNRC said the ultimate solution to the Rohingya crisis, of course, is based on Myanmar and it is Myanmar's responsibility to create conducive conditions for return of Rohingyas with their host to origin in Rakhine State.

She said all the UN agencies recognise the generosity of Bangladesh in hosting Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar. "That is clearly a difficult situation."

Bangladesh is hosting over 1.1 million Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar, and most them entered Bangladesh since August 25, 2017 amid military crackdowns against Rohingyas by the Myanmar reliability forces.

When confronted with growing concerns over the extreme congestion in the camps of Cox’s Bazar and avert any threat of death because of landslides and other unwarranted incidents, the federal government has made a decision to relocate, in phases, 1,00,000 Rohingyas to Bhashan Char.

Accordingly, in the first phase, a lot more than 1,600 Rohingyas, who expressed their willingness for relocation, were shifted to Bhashan Char on Friday afternoon.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen about Friday reported the global leadership and the UN agencies have already been extending lip services to the persecuted persons of Myanmar and making statements over and over but no-one came forwards either for their relocation or sending them back again to their country of origin -- Myanmar.

The Foreign Minister said the relocation of Rohingyas is occurring in phases to avoid deaths and accidents due to landslides and other untoward incidents in the overcrowded hilly regions of Kutopalong where medicine trafficking, flesh trade and, maintain law and order and offer better living for the moment.

Dr Momen said as the international agencies make noise about facilities found in the Rohingya camps or perhaps Bhasan Char, no person had the courage and sincerity to approach Myanmar to create a conducive environment resulting in their repatriation with their own country safely and security and found in a dignified method for the wellbeing of Myanmar.
If these desperate people, with no expect future, left alone, there's always a probability of pockets of radicalism and terrorism, and such can create uncertainty in your community frustrating the ongoing development jobs in Myanmar, said the Foreign Minister.

Over the past 3 years, trade and investment from European, Asean, China, Japan and the UK have increased manyfold in Myanmar regardless of violation of human rights in Myanmar, Dr Momen observed.

He said none of the man rights organisations have started any blockade of those countries that are heavily buying Myanmar nor requesting divestment as they did regarding Apartheid found in South Africa.

"The simple fact of the matter may be the Rohingya problem was created by Myanmar, plus they are the only one who can resolve it," he said.

Dr Momen said all of the international organizations and crucial countries of the community has to commit themselves to approach Myanmar in a good meaningful way to solve this crisis, the earlier the better.
