Two pvt univ students die from drug overdose
Two private university students from Dhaka have died from drugs overdose in the tourist resort district of Cox's Bazar on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Abir Rahman Rumi, 24, student of North South University, a resident of Malibagh area; and Mohammad Arefin, 25, Independent University, Bangladesh, one resident of Old Dhaka.
Deceased’s friend Muntasir Tahamid Nisarga said four friends, including Rumi and Arefin, checked in Hotel Long Beach’s room no: 3014.
Abir and Arefin fell sick on Saturday morning during the tour.
Later, Abir was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital with critical condition while Arefin was sent to Dhaka.
Sadar Police Station inspector (Operation) Masum Khan said Abir and Arefin died from overdose of Yaba tablets.
Abir died on Sunday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, said the hospital source, and Arefin at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning.
Abir’s body was sent to Dhaka following an application of deceased’s father with Cox’s Bazar district magistrate .
