Twitter’s brand-new ‘fleets’ gets the side-eyes as users demand edit option instead
Twitter announced that it had been introducing a fresh feature found in Brazil that could allow users to create ephemeral tweets that disappear found in 24 hours. The favorite ‘stories’ characteristic of Instagram is usually what Twitter was choosing with ‘Fleets’ but twitterati are none too impressed.

To compose a fleet, users must tap the + icon and upload text message, photos, video clips and GIFs. Anyone can visit a user’s fleets but you can just respond via DM rather than by liking, retweeting or posting.

Speaking about the explanation behind presenting Fleets, Twitter's Product Lead Kavyon Beykpour was quoted as saying simply by yourstory.com, “People often reveal that they don’t feel safe tweeting because Tweets is seen and replied to by anybody, feel everlasting and performative (remember the number of likes and retweets you might get)."

“We’re hoping that fleets might help people share the fleeting thoughts they might have already been unlikely to tweet,” Twitter said, introducing the feature in Brazil.

But on a platform where users engage more politically than on other social mass media, where tweets are actually fact-checked by other users quote-tweeting main tweets, or key reactionary trends are tripped based on a particular tweet, the short life of fleets sometimes appears as problematic. #RIPTwitter started out trending globally after Twitter’s announcement presenting Fleets, with many users pointing out the uselessness of the feature-particularly when Twitter hasn't acceded to varied demands for a choice to edit tweets.
