Twitter, Google staff told to home based over coronavirus fears
Twitter staff around the world were asked to home based starting Monday in an effort to stop the pass on of the deadly latest coronavirus epidemic.

As well, thousands of staff at Google’s European headquarters in Ireland were told to stay away for your day after one worker reported flu-like symptoms.

Twitter’s decision to ask its personnel to avoid any office follows requests by governments on virus hotspots.

“We are strongly encouraging all staff members globally to home based if they’re ready,” Twitter recruiting chief Jennifer Christie said in a Mon blog post. Working from home will come to be mandatory for employees at the company’s South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan office buildings, Christie said.

South Korea has recorded nearly 5,000 confirmed COVID-19 infections-the major number outdoors mainland China-along with 28 deaths. Over fifty percent of the cases have been linked to the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a secretive religious group sometimes referred to as a cult.

Japan’s government offers urged the closure of universities nationwide and companies to give their employees permission to function remotely. Just about all civil servants in Hong Kong came back to work on Monday after they were asked to home based for a month. The financial hub has recorded 100 cases of the disease.

Twitter had previously announced the suspension of “non-critical” business travelling and events the other day.

Google employees some 8,000 personnel and contractors in the Irish capital.

“Relative to the advice of doctors, and within that effort, we've asked our Dublin teams to home based today,” a Google spokesperson explained.

Ireland has a single confirmed case of COVID-19 -- a man who returned from northern Italy.

Google staff who've been in contact with their colleague with the flu-like symptoms have already been told to screen their health, as the company is going to be using the situation to greatly help check the company’s readiness to deal with any outbreak.
