Toya to step into Dhallywood July 20
After winning thousand of people's heart through small screen productions, actress Mumtaheena Chowdhury Toya is now all set to rule big screen. With 'Bengali Beauty', this Lux superstar is going to step into Dhallywood film industry. The film has received the censor certificate on June 6 and now awaiting for release.
News has that, 'Bengali Beauty'; a film written and directed by Rahsaan Noor will be released on July 20 across the country. About the film getting released, Toya said, "'Bengali Beauty' was supposed to get released on this year's Valentine's Day. However, we had to postpone the release as the film was yet to get clearance from censor board."
Regarding her first venture in Dhallywood, this popular actress said, "Working for big screen is always a huge matter. I always wanted to work in film but until now I couldn't find any good stories or characters. This is the first time my movie is getting released. I am excited and at the same time scared."
Set in the backdrop of 1970's Dhaka, Toya will be seen as a medical student in 'Bengali Beauty'. The film encapsulates a revolutionary mood and centres on a modest medical student (Toya) who falls in love with a brash Bangladeshi Radio deejay (Rahsaan Noor), while listening to his "World Music" show during the revolutionary '70s.
Initially scheduled to release in Bangladesh on 9 February, 2018, Bengali Beauty was banned by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. However, the film went on to release in the United States on February 16th, 2018, and was praised for it's screenplay, direction, music, and the performances of the lead actors, becoming the highest grossing Bengali language film of all-time at the United States Box Office.
