Big budget movies in Dhallywood soon
The year 2017 gave a big hope for the Bangladeshi film industry with blockbuster films like Dhaka Attack, Nabab, Boss 2, Rajneeti, Doob, Haldaa. These films were able to draw huge audience back to the cinema halls, as well as earning money.
However, the star of 2018 was not as good as it was expected. At the near end of January, the starting of this year looks dull as four films- Putro, Haimanti, Pagla Manush and Demag failed to attract audience. Even highly acclaimed actor Joya Ahsan's Putro didn't bid so well in the box office.
But then again, the next month looks promising for the Dhallywood industry as there are big budget films with super stars ready to be released by the end of January and across February.
Films like Inspector Notty K, Bhalo Theko, Noor Jahan, Swapno Jaal and Ami Neta Hobo in the pipeline, several filmmakers and producers think that these films releasing back to back in a single month can change Bangladesh's film scene.
Cinema insiders have high expectations about the films to be released. "The films released so far could not strike a chord with the viewers. Hopefully the films releasing in February will do well", said Iftekharuddin Naushad, the president of film producers and distributors association.
Chalachitra Shilpo Samiti's president, Misha Shawdagar, recently told the press that these films' release can reshape the film industry as all of them are big budget films. He is also hoping that the audience crisis in theatres will go away from February.
