Tourism fair begins in Chattogram
Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation A J M Nasir Uddin formally inaugurated the three-day international tourism fair Chittagong Travel Mart-2019 at the Peninsula Chittagong hotel in Chattogram today. The 11th edition of the fair is being organised by The Bangladesh Monitor and supported by Buy Tickets, an Online Travel Agency (OTA) as the Title Sponsor.
The inaugural ceremony held at the hotel was addressed by Mahbubul Alam, President, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, Mobin Rashed, Country Manager, Air Arabia, Hanif Zakaria, Chief Commercial Officer, Regent Airways and Shafiqul Islam, General Manager (Sales and Marketing), US Bangla Airlines, among others.
Chattogram Mayor Nasir Uddin reiterated his plan to make Chattogram a tourism city. He assured to create a necessary infrastructure and facilities for the purpose. The Mayor called upon all the airlines, tour operators and others concerned to come forward with their proposal for development of the city as a popular tourist destination.
President of Chittagong Chamber Mahbubul Alam stressed upon the need for improved connectivity of the region to attract more local and foreign tourists.
Air Arabia, US-Bangla Airlines and Regent Airways expressed their plan in increasing frequency to and from Chattogram. But they urged for required facilities at the airport.
Over 20 organisations representing airlines, hotels, resorts, tour operators and other tourism service providers are participating at the fair. The participants are offering special discounts on air tickets to domestic and international destinations, hotel and resort accommodations, tour packages etc.
Chittagong Travel Mart will remain open for visitors from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm every day until October 26.
