Throwing principal into pond: BCL men among 50 sued
A case has been filed against 50 people over throwing the principal of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute into a pond on the campus by a group of BCL men.

Victim principal Farid Uddin Ahmed filed the case with Chandrima Police Station around 9pm on Saturday, officer-in-charge Sheikh Mohammad Golam Mostafa confirmed.

The accused include joint general secretary of the institute unit of BCL Kamal Hossain Sourav, Murad, Shanta, Bony, Hasibul Hossain Shanta, Salman Tony, Habibul and Maruf.

A total of 25 people have, so far, been arrested following the case filed.

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists threw their principal into the pond on the campus on Saturday afternoon as he refused to allow two students to fill up forms for examination for inadequate class attendance.

The incident was captured in a surveillance camera.

In a press release, Rocky Kumar Ghosh and Mahmud Hasan Rajib, president and general secretary of the unit, said a six-member committee was formed to look into the incident.

The committee was asked to submit its report within three working days.
