The beauteous Bangla in paint
A solo painting exhibition by Golam Mohammed Joarder titled 'Ruposhi Bangla' (The Beauteous Bangla) was inaugurated yesterday at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka at 5pm.
The honorable speaker of Bangladesh parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Eminent artist Prof. Samarjit Roy Chowdhury was present as the guest of honor while the honorable whip of Bangladesh parliament Solaiman Hqque Joarder, MP also attended the opening ceremony as the special guest.
Golam Mohammed Joarder, who holds a BFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka and has two published novels under his illustrious belt, found the 'nature' as his muse for this painting exhibition titled 'Ruposhi Bangla (The Beauteous Bengal)'.
The 'nature' in his paintings, he states, consists of man and man's circumstances. To him these two elements render as imaginal as well as abstract in composition. Joarder prefers the abstractionism, as to him the concrete form is 2-dimensional - either true or fake.
The abstractionism, however, is open-ended, interpretable to the observer - one either understands a great deal from it or not. Joarder keeps that observer-to-be in his mind. His canvasses thus invite colors that are, by his own account, gravitative.
After the inaugural ceremony, the exhibition will be open to all until 17th July 2018 in La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka.
Visiting Hours: Monday to Thursday, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). Closed -Sunday.
