The 8 story!
There's nothing to hate about the recently launched Redmi 8 series from Xiaomi. The Pro variant of series 8 has an (8X8) 64 MP AI quad-camera and comes in an 8 GB + 128 GB memory mix. Xiaomi historically has been a brand that has made a mockery of popular pricing, by offering devices at ridiculously affordable prices, while offering compelling specs and performance. With its latest festival offering, the company has waited for the competition to launch their devices, before entering the Diwali weekend with a range of flagship quality devices at not-so-flagship prices.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is out to woo the gamer as well as the photography enthusiast in an all-in-one package. The 6.53 inches device comes with HDR display and a dot notch screen, with Gorilla Glass 5 at front and back. The 8 Pro is Xiaomi's first 64 MP device in the country with a camera configuration of a 64 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro lens. The 20 MP front camera comes with AI portrait modes for daylight as well as low-light photographs.
The macro lens claims to capture images with a 2 cm autofocus, while the primary lenses allow 4K video recording. Powered by the Helio G90T processor, the device is optimized for gaming with Liquid Cooling technology for better heat dissipation and UI enhancements for alert management during game time. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the first device in the country to come with Alexa built-in for out-of-the-box voice assistance.
Design-wise, the 8 Pro's double side glass is rugged yet stylish, and the smooth, curved edges make for good hand feel. The camera module looks striking and the fingerprint sensor is cleverly housed right below the rear camera module. Available in three memory configurations, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is available at Rs. 14,999 (6 GB + 64 GB), Rs. 15,999 (6 GB + 128 GB) and Rs. 17,999 (8 GB + 128 GB).
If you are happy with a 48 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP primary and a 13 MP selfie camera, in a 6.3 inches device, without liquid cooling, but sporting the Snapdragon 665 processor, letting you save a couple of thousand bucks, the Redmi Note 8 is the device for you. With a range of quirky innovations such as self-cleaning sound speakers and palm shutter image captures and a 40 % increase in speaker volume, the Note 8 is a good bargain at Rs. 9,999 (6 GB + 64 GB) and Rs. 12,999 (6 GB + 128 GB).
