Redmi’s flagship killer will sport Snapdragon 855 chipset
After launching the POCO F1, Xiaomi is looking to strengthen its Redmi line-up by launching a smartphone that can go toe-to-toe with the best out there. In keeping with the tradition of launching amazing handsets at never before seen price, it now appears that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is preparing a flagship killer in the form of the Redmi 2.

Now, a Chinese tipster has shared all the details of the Redmi Pro 2 and they seem very interesting to say the least. The handset is expected to come with a similar design as the current budget king, the Redmi Note 7 Pro except that it will lose the Dot notch in favour of a pop-up camera. This front-facing shooter is rated at 20MP and while it loses the bezels on three sides, it does come with a sizable chin.

This feature can definitely be excused as we expect the price to pale in comparison to other flagship devices and we still see many out there opting for the Redmi Pro 2, no matter the size of the chin. Under the hood, you can expect a top-end Snapdragon 855 SoC.

There will be a large 6.39-inch FHD+ display that will feature Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top and what’s more, is that it will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, putting it head-to-head with the likes of OPPO and Vivo. As far as optics on the rear go, the handset will feature a triple camera setup that boasts a 48MP primary sensor. The battery found on the Redmi Pro 2 is said to be 3600mAh with 27W fast charging. And, as usual, it will come with an IR blaster.

The handset will come in three colourways —Red, Black and Blue and will be launched in the near future.
