The government has been asked to relocate all industries responsible for the environment and water pollution and not to allow setting up of any new industry in eight megacities of the country.

"No permission will be given to set up any new industry at eight megacities across the country . . . This would help reduce environment and water pollution," a spokesman of the 'Taskforce to protect rivers’ told BSS after a meeting at the shipping ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka with Shipping Minister Shahajahan Khan in the chair.

The Taskforce meeting also decided to conduct drives to evict the illegal occupants of the river Buriganga and eight surveyors were assigned to assist drives in this connection.
