Tamim donates cash to provide essentials to the underprivileged
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has been among those cricketers who have led the way in assisting the underprivileged during the ongoing nationwide shutdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The experienced cricketer once again extended his support towards Nafisa Anjum Khan, who provides daily essentials in a CNG-driven three-wheeler to persons in need who contact her on the phone. Nafisa mainly gets phone calls from households experiencing financial meltdown but are shy to ask for help.
"I was offering gifts through my very own set up. Tamim bhai browse a media report about my initiative and reached out if you ask me over the telephone. He wanted to understand how I am operating and to whom the requirements are being delivered.
"Upon hearing the facts, Tamim bhai asked me easily needed any assistance. I stated it is mainly the people I understand that are supporting me with the initiative. Tamim bhai then said he would be happy if he could contribute but it is not easy for him to help personally as a result of the shutdown. So, he then provided me some funds and can give extra tomorrow [Thursday]. With both the funds together, I'll arrange a giveaway to the households on Friday, to those who reached out if you ask me over the telephone," Nafisa said.
Meanwhile, Tamim said he is willing to help even more people during the crisis.
"I spoke to her and I am trying to help the best I could. It is really very important to us to help as many people possible in this critical time," said Tamim.
Previously Tamim had taken the duty of providing expenditure to the family members of the most effective teenage sprinter Samiul Islam together with his other charitable activities amid the coronavirus pandemic.
