Tamim Iqbal made Tigers' new ODI captain
Tamim Iqbal has been appointed captain of the Bangladesh ODI group, overtaking from Mashrafe Mortaza whose previous leadership assignment was the three-meet ODI series against Zimbabwe. As full-period ODI captain, Tamim's initial assignment will be the one-off ODI against Pakistan on April 1.
Tamim has led Bangladesh in ODIs earlier, captaining the group in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka last July found in Mortaza's absence. He previously also led the staff in the Christchurch Check against New Zealand in January 2017.
Mortaza had announced that the third ODI against Zimbabwe will come to be his last as Bangladesh skipper, and finished his captaincy career on a winning be aware as Bangladesh sealed a 3-0 victory. Mortaza, even so, will continue as a new player, subject to selection.
"I cannot claim anything about selection. Nevertheless, you have to carry out as a captain. And captaincy can be a huge pressure, exclusively in international cricket. But when I believe of myself as only a player, in that sense, this is a very very good decision for me personally," he previously said.
