Swechchhasebak League elects new leadership
Nirmal Ranjan Guha and Afzalur Rahman Babu have been elected president and general secretary of Awami Swechchhasebak League, an associate body of the Bangladesh Awami League, respectively.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced their names at the second session of third national council of Swechchhasebak League at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday.

Earlier, Nirmal Guha served the organization as vice president and convener of the council preparation committee while Babu performed as vice president. 

Meanwhile, Kamrul Hasan Ripon and Tarique Sayeed were made president and general secretary of Dhaka South Swechchhasebak League respectively. 

Isahaq Mia and Anisur Rahman Nayeem were elected as president and secretary of Dhaka North Swechchhasebak League committee. 

In instant reaction, newly elected president Nirmal Guha said, "I will try my level best to perform the responsibility what the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave on me by electing me as president." 

Newly elected general secretary Babu vowed to turn Swechchhasebak League into skilled and strong one. Devoted, and leaders during crisis moment would be brought under leadership of the party, he added. 

The first committee of Awami Swechchhasebak League was formed in 1997 with then lawmaker Makbul Hossain as convener.

A F M Bahauddin Nasim and Pankanj Debnath were elected president and secretary in the first council of the Awami League's volunteer organization in 2002. 

Last 2012 Swechchhasebak League formed its committee where Molla Md Abu Kawsar and Pankaj Debath were chosen as president and general secretary. 

The committee was in leadership of Swechchhasebak League for around 17 years. 

Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the third national council of Swechchhasebak League at Suhrawardy Udyan where she asked the leaders and activists of the party to spread service mentality across the country according to the party's constitution.
