Suspected drug peddler killed in 'shootout'
An alleged drug dealer was killed in a 'gunfight' between two gang of drug traders in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia early Monday.

The deceased could not be identified yet.   

With this, the number of deaths in anti-drugs crackdown stood at 249 across the country since May 12.

Bheramara Police Station OC Khandoker Shamim said on secret information that two gang of drug dealers were exchanging fire at GK irrigation project, a team of police members conducted a drive there at about 3am.

Later, they rescued a bullet-hit man from the scene and sent them to Kushtia General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

But others managed to flee the scene.

Police also recovered a gun, Yaba pills and some bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
