Sri Lanka tops in civil aviation safety in South Asia
Colombo : Sri Lanka has been placed on the top in civil aviation safety by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Sri Lanka has shown 88.57 per cent of overall Effective Implementation of International Standards and Recommended Practices.
The Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, H. M. C. Nimalsiri said it is an increase of 1.21 per cent compared to the performance recorded at the previous audit conducted in 2010.
A team of six ICAO certified auditors visited Sri Lanka for the conduct of the audit last month under the Continuous Monitoring Assessment.
The ICAO launched the assessment under the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme in 2005.
