Social media surveillance ahead of Pohela Boishakh
The government will go for monitoring social media sites in a bid to make the celebration programs marking upcoming Bangla New Year safe.

The move was initiated so that none can spread rumor or violence marking Pohela Boishakh, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Wednesday (April 3).

He was talking to the reporters after holding a preparatory meeting of Pohela Boishakh, at the conference room of the home ministry.

The meeting was attended by the officials of police, RAB, Fire brigade, BGB, detective branches, coastguard, navy and ministries.

All the attendees must leave the function venues by 5pm on the first day of Baishakh, said the minister.

Strong surveillance will be carried out and archways will be installed in Ramna, Dhaka University (DU), Suhrawardy Udyan, Hatirjheel, Old Dhaka and various other parts of the city.

The venues will also have mobile courts to prevent eve-teasing, vulgarism and sabotage, added Asaduzzaman Khan.
