Sixth Joint Forum for China–Bangladesh Cooperation begins
The two-day Sixth Joint Forum for China–Bangladesh Cooperation, organised by Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) and Yunnan Development Research Center (YDRC) of the People’s Government of Yunnan, kicked off yesterday at a city hotel.
Major General A N M Muniruzzaman (retd), President of Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) and Bian Mingshe, Deputy Director-General, Development Research Center of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, China delivered the opening remarks.
The delegation from Yunnan attending the forum presented keynotes on the province’s initiatives to incorporate culture tourism which played further role to the development of the region. They suggested Bangladesh to follow the strategy for its own benefit given the rich culture and heritage the country holds.
The Chinese delegation included Liu Jie, Vice President, Academy of Commerce of Yunnan Province, Yang Haoyu, Business Manager, One Belt and One Road Research Institute, Zhang Liang, Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Communication Investment Group and Yunling Construction, Meng Rui, Vice President of Yunnan Tourism Planning Institute, Yang Huan, Lawyer of Beijing Dentons Law Office, Zhang Junmin, Research Fellow and FU Jing, Associate Research Fellow of Development Research Center of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province.
On behalf of BIPSS, the delegation which was present at the forum to give feedbacks included Parvez Karim Abbasi, Assistant Professor, East West University, Dr Shaker Ahmed, Ex-Chairman and Professor, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Dhaka, Delowar Hossain, President, Bangladesh China Friendship Centre, Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, Dr Nadia Binte Amin, Chairman of TARA Foundation, Md Obaidul Haque, Associate Professor, Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka and Ayesha Kabir, Consulting Editor, Prothom Alo.
The forum also featured discussions on identifying bilateral opportunities that would strengthen trade relations for both the countries.
