Sheikh Ahmad appointed Chief Qari of Bangladesh

The world renowned Quran reciter Sheikh Ahmad Bin Yusuf Al Azhari has been appointed as the Chief Qari (Shaikhul Qurra) of Bangladesh. 

Ittehadul Qurra Al Alamia, the apex body of Global Quran Reciters managed by the Arab League, has appointed Sheikh Ahmad as Bangladesh's Chief Qari.

Qari is an Arabic term that means one who recites the Qur'an according to the tajwid, or proper rules of recitation of the country.

On June 14, Arab League organizational personality Abdul Aziz Abdullah Hamad and President of Ittehadul Qurra Al Alamia Dr Ahmad Naina awarded Sheikh Ahmad the dignity, said a press release.

The press release said this charge was on Maulana Qari Muhammad Yusuf (Rah ) till his demise on April 18 since the independence of Bangladesh. 

He was also Cheif Qari of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television (BTV). Now his eldest son Shaikh Ahmad bin Yusuf al-Azhari achieved the responsibility.

Newly appointed Sheikh Ahmed, the pride of Bangladesh, is also the Vice President of the International Qirat Recitation Association (IQRA). 

He recited Qur'an in various  international conferences and became judge in the major international Quran recitation competition.

Regarding his appointment, Ahmad Naina said through this appointment of Sheikh Ahmad Bin Yusuf, the new momentum of external relations with Bangladesh will be strengthened and the enrichment of the Qur'an recitation of Bangladesh will further enrich Insha Allah.

Shaikh Ahmad passed Dawrah Hadith in Bangladesh in 2001, and later he was the first Bangladeshi to receive the highest certificate on 10 Qirat by eight years of his studies from Ma'ad al-Qirat of Al-Azhar in Egypt.
