Shakib posts video message following backlash
Bangaldesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan deleted his earlier post regarding protests from students and posted a video message on facebook where he wanted to clarify himself, suggesting that the Bangladesh government should be given time to take measures and implement steps to meet the demand from the protesting students.
Shakib’s initial post had come under overwhelming criticism in the form of facebook post comments and the cricketer felt the need to clarify that he was indeed with the students. He felt that the goverment should allowed to meet the demands and meanwhile the students should focus on their studies.
“Dear fans and followers, some of you seem to have misunderstood my message to you all. Please know that I'm with you all and let's try to give your movement shape by allowing our government to meet your demands asap. Please remember I have a young daughter, a sister, a wife and parents like many of you,” a message that came with the video read.
He reinstated his earlier points and also requested the parents to make the students see that the government would need time to take action.
“We all want our children to have a safe commute on the streets. So keeping that in mind, the demand for safer roads should be every citizen’s.
He also once again vowed to the protesting students that they will find the cricketer beside them in the future in case the demands are not met.
