The SV-3253 of Saudi Arabian Airlines flying to Saudi Arab had to return back to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka after discovering ‘technical difficulty’ midflight on March 26 stranding 400 passengers in the capital.

Among the passengers, 50 of them bought tickets from Gazi Travels for the purpose of Umrah. One of them mentioned that the aircraft departed for Saudi from Dhaka on March 26 at 12:05 am. After an hour and 40 minutes, around 2:00 am, the crew announced the passengers of a technical difficulty in the aircraft while in mid-air, hence returned back to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

Around 4 in the morning, the passengers were taken to different hotels at Uttara for temporary stay.

Another passenger said that they were told that a new flight from Jeddah would come to fly them to Saudi. However, no officer from Saudi Airlines has yet attempted to inquire about the passengers.

Group Captain Abdullah Al Farooq, Director, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said, “Due to technical difficulty in the aircraft discovered midflight, the Saudi Arabian Airlines flight had to return back to Dhaka for emergency landing. They are to be taken to Saudi by another aircraft tonight (March 27).”
