Salman Shah committed suicide, not murdered: PBI
Popular big screen actor Shahriar Chowdhury Imon, widely know as Salman Shah was not murdered, but he committed suicide over family feud, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said on Monday (Feb 24).
DIG Banaj Kumar Majumder, chief of PBI, disclosed the info at a press briefing.
After Salman Shah had died on September 6 of 1996, his father Komoruddin Chowdhury filled an unnatural death (UD) case.
Down the road July 24 of 1997, he applied to shift the case right into a murder case, alleging that his son was murdered.
Following the application, as per court order, a judicial probe committee was formed to research the death of Salman Shah.
On November 3 of 1997, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the final report saying Salman Shah committed suicide. The court accepted the report on November 25 of this year.
However, Salman’s father Komoruddin Chowdhury rejected the CID report and filed a revision case. Later, on, may 19 of 2003, the court sent the case for judicial investigation.
Finally, around after 12 years, metropolitan magistrate Imdadul Haque submitted the are accountable to the principle metropolitan magistrate of Dhaka Bikas Kumar Saha on August 3 of 2014, saying the actor’s death as ‘unnatural’.
As the father passed on, Salman’s mother moved for filing the naraji petition rejecting the report on February 10 of 2015.
Down the road December 7 of 2016, a Dhaka court has asked the authorities Bureau of Investigation to handle further investigations in to the case filed over the death of Salman Shah for the new inquiry.
