Recitation production addresses environmental issues
A recitation production titled 'Dharitri' addressing environmental issues was staged on Saturday at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Recitation troupe Sarashruti staged the production, compiled and directed by Mir Masrur Zaman Roni, to generate awareness about environmental issues like climate change, aggressive urbanisation, pollution and others.
The production featured poems by renowned poets including Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jasimuddin, Jatindra Mohan Bagchi, Shankha Ghosh, Abu Hasan Shahriar, Khandakar Ashraf Hossain, Abid Azad and others. The director added letters and newspaper articles very ingeniously giving a compact picture of how nature is being neglected. The production began with a letter titled 'Unnayner Padakkhep' by renowned recitation artiste Ahkam Ullah.
The production also featured poems like Sheeth Upakkhan, Shoroter Gondho Pawa Jay, Ei Nodi Eka, Latin poems Tumi Isshor Hey, Mamar Bari, Kajla Didi, Kotokal Age Lekha, Anoti Jibon, Ami Hobo and others. Sarashruti artistes also recited a few newspaper articles relating to environmental issues. Sarashruti artistes Mir Masrur, Shah Ali Joy, Zinia Ferdous, Riaz Sezan, Bharati Halder, Ashraful Alam Rasel and others performed in the production.
'The production is designed to create awareness about environmental issues. The message we want to convey is that we must not neglect destruction of nature in the name of development or urbanisation,' said Mir Masrur Zaman Roni, director of the production.A large number of audiences enjoyed the show. 'I want to thank Sarashruti for bringing such a production highlighting how our activities are destroying the nature,' Arifin Hossain, an audience member,said.
