Rana Plaza owner Khaleque dies of coronavirus
Abdul Khaleque, owner of  multi-storied building Rana Plaza which collapsed in 2013, has died of coronavirus infection.

He died at his Savar residence on Thursday morning.

With this the amount of deaths from COVID-19 stood at nine in savar upazila.

Abdul Khaleque, father of Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana, was an accused of several cases filed following the building collapse that killed at least 1,136 people, mostly garment workers. He previously been on bail for a long period. 

Abdul Khaleque's daughter Rawshan Ara told media that her father was taken to Enam Medical College on Sunday as he suffered respiratory problem. 

But, the hospital authority didn't get Khaleque admitted as his COVID-19 test had not been done.

His sample was given on Monday and the test results came positive today.

Abdul Khaleque had died prior to the test results came.

Savar upazila health and family planning officer Sayemul Huda said Enam Medical College Hospital confirmed that Abdul Khaleque was infected with coronavirus.
