Qatar Airways tops Skytrax’s World Airline Rankings 2019
Qatar Airways has nabbed the first place in Skytrax’s World Airline Rankings 2019 ending Singapore Airlines 4 year reign. This is the fifth time Qatar has won the title of world’s best airline.
The carrier has also worn the crown for the categories – world's best business class, world's best business class seat and best airline in the Middle East.
Former winner Singapore came in second in this year’s list based on a survey of more than 20 million passengers from around the globe.
ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Emirates claimed third, fourth and fifth spots respectively in the world airline rankings.
This year’s top 10 saw no major shakeups, with Asian and Middle Eastern airlines continuing to dominate. Lufthansa was the only European airline to make the top 10, while no US airlines made the cut.
Singapore Airlines also bagged the awards for the world's best cabin crew, best first class and best first class seat and was named the best airline in Asia.
Japan Airlines took out the awards for the world's best economy class and world's best economy class seat, while AirAsia was named the world's best low-cost airline.
Emirates was said to have the world's best inflight entertainment, followed by Qatar, Singapore and Virgin Atlantic.
EVA Air took out the award for the world's cleanest aircraft cabins, followed by Japan Airlines and ANA All Nippon Airways.
The Air New Zealand designed and managed Star Alliance Lounge in Los Angeles was named the best airline alliance lounge. Plaza Premium Lounge at London's Heathrow Airport was named the world's best independent airport lounge.
