Prothom Alo Editor gets bail
A court in Dhaka on Monday granted bail to Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman in a case filed over the death of a student of Dhaka Residential Model College.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam passed the order after hearing on the bail.
Matiur Rahman filed the petition today as his four-week anticipatory bail distributed by the High Court ended today, said his lawyer Ehsanul Haque Somaji.
Previously January 16, the same court issued a warrant against the Editor, Associate Editor Anisul Hoque and seven other persons in the case.
The HC granted a four-week anticipatory bail to Matiur Rahman on January 20.
Naimul Abrar, 15, a class IX student of DRMC, died from electrocution at a function of the daily Prothom Alo's juvenile magazine 'Kishor Alo' on November 1, 2019.
His father lodged the case with Mohammadpur Police Station the very next day.
