Pro-AL panel sweeps IUTA election
The ruling Awami League-backed teachers’ panel swept all the 15 executive posts in the Islamic University Teachers’ Association (IUTA) election 2019 on Wednesday.
Professor Dr M Kamal Uddin of Statistics department and Professor Dr M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan of Economics department were elected president and general secretary respectively from the pro-AL teachers’ panel Bangabandhu Parisad and Shapla Forum.
IUTA chief election commissioner Professor Dr Mohammad Solaiman announced the result around 7pm.
A total of 350 teachers, out of 406, cast their votes, he added.
In the election, Professor Dr AHM Aktarul Islam Zillu was elected vice-president while Professor Dr M Jahangir Hossain joint secretary and Professor Dr M Mamunur Rahman treasurer.
The elected executive members are- Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Professor Dr M Zakaria Rahman, Professor Dr M Mahbubul Arefin, Professor Dr M Anowar Hossain, Professor Dr M Maher Ali, Professor Dr Shahadath Hossain Azad, Professor Dr Tapon Kumar Zoddar, Professor Dr M Rezwanul Islam, Professor Dr M Mizanur and Joyosree Sen.
