Politics is no more in politicians' hands: Menon
Mentioning that country's politics is no more in the hands of politicians, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon on Friday said, "The state power has now been captured by only a handful of people."
"We've to free the country from the clutch of such power hungry quarter for the sake of people," he urged.
The former minister came up with the call while speaking at the reminiscence meeting organised for late party member Mahmudul Alam at Aswini Kumar Town Hall in Barishal city on Friday.
Referring to some Awami League leaders' statements over eliminating 'intruders and hybrid leaders' from the party, he said, "They can never purge the intruders due to obsession in power and money."
Criticising gas price hike, Menon said the government caused suffering to the common people by raising gas price."The price hike will leave impact on every sectors of economy," he added.
Before the beginning of the meeting, Rashed Khan Menon and other political leaders paid tribute to Mahmudul Alam by placing wreaths at his portrait.
