Police arrest accused Shampa
Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Feni have arrested Shampa alias Champa, an accused in a case filed over the deadly arson attack on madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
PBI's additional superintendent Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter on Monday.
The police official said Shampa has been arrested from Feni but he could not confirm the exact time of the arrest.
On April 6, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Fazil Madrsaha, was set on fire allegedly by some fellows as she refused to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal for sexual harassment.
On April 10, she succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
On the day of Rafi's murder, Shampa informed Rafi that their friend Nishat was being beaten on fourth floor of the madrasa building.
Then, Rafi went there where four people wearing Burqa first confined her with scarf and set her on fire by pouring kerosene.
