One killed, 50 injured in Sylhet waz mahfil clash
A madrasa student was killed and 50 others were injured in a clash over waz mahfil in Jaintiapur Upazila of Sylhet district on Monday night.
Deceased Mozammel Hossain, was a student of Haripur Madrasa in the upazila, said Jointapur Police Station officer in-charge Khan Md Moynul Zakir.
The injured could not be identified yet. They were admitted to different hospitals, including Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
The followers of Sunni ideology organised a waz mahfil in Banglabazar Ambari area around 11:30pm.
At one stage, they engaged in a clash with Wahabi ideology followers following a dispute, leaving the madrasa student dead on the spot and injured others 50 people.
