Oikyafront out to make election questionable: 14-party
The 14-party alliance led by Awami League (AL) asked the Election Commission (EC) to take necessary steps against BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront’s attempts to make upcoming general election questionable.

Leaders of the 14-party alliance on Friday made the call when a 12-member delegation led by Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua met the EC.

After the meeting, Dilip Barua termed BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront’s role over the ensuing election as double standard and mischievous. He went on saying that BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront are taking preparations to participate in the election side by side grumbling with baseless and false complaints to destroy peaceful and festive atmosphere of the election.

He said, “BNP is making comments violating electoral code of conduct….  But Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain is silent though he is an eminent jurist.”

The demands placed by BNP are politically motivated, Dilip Barua said adding BNP wants to make the parliamentary polls questionable, BSS reports.

BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront are conspiring to create unstable situation during the election for implementing their secret agenda, the leaders of the 14-party alliance said.

Demand of BNP regarding reshuffles of officials in civil administration and officials concerned, the leaders of the 14-party alliance said it is the authority of the Election Commission for reshuffling of officials for sake of holding a free, fair and peaceful election.

Other members of the delegation including AL Organizing Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Jatiya Party General Secretary Sheikh Shahidul Islam and leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) Nader Chowdhury, joined the meeting.
